Where’s Woodward & Bernstein when you need them?

How high must the stench of corruption go before some enterprising journalist (what used to be called a “reporter,” whose job it was to look for “facts”) decides he can make his career by just doing his damn job? Remember the Blagojevich scandal regarding the Senate seat formerly held by Obama?  Remember the allegations (pooh-poohed by the Left) that Obama involved himself improperly by suggesting to Governor Blago that he appoint an Obama toady to the vacated seat?  Remember how we were told by the MSM that there was no evidence that Obama had anything to do with it?  Er, not quite.

Fed informant passed delicate message to Blagojevich from Obama

John Wyma, a lobbyist and Blago’s former chief of staff, passed to John Harris (Blago’s last chief of staff) the following message: “the President-elect would be thankful and appreciative if the governor would appoint Valerie Jarrett to the Senate seat.”

Problem was, Wyma was a Federal informant.  Oops.  Blago was later caught on a wire-tapped call saying: “We know he wants her, they’re not willing to give me anything, just appreciation, f— them.”

Does this meet the legal standard required to establish criminal conduct?  I don’t know.  I’m not a criminal lawyer.  (I have a real job as a productive member of society, being an oil-speculating, pollution-belching, obscene-profit-acquiring capitalist.)  But there’s at least a story here.  If anyone in the media was paying attention.   Which they’re not.

Of course, it’s not really news, because it comes from the fevered writings of some right-wing-nutjob conservative blogger.  Oh wait, it doesn’t.  It comes from the Chicago Sun-Times.  Noted conservative newspaper and all.

Profiles In Cowardice

The Washington Post has no balls, but your Wiccapundit does (Substantial Ones of Clanging Brass™), so I will post the cartoon that the Washington Post thought was so inflammatory, that Muslims would be upset: a cartoon that doesn’t show an image of Muhammed (Peace Be Upon Him™).

That’s right.  NO IMAGE.  Courtesy of PowerLine via Ace of Spades.

As the cartoonist himself says:

The award-winning cartoonist, who lives in Maine, told me the cartoon was meant to satirize “the insanity of an entire group of people rioting and putting out a hit list over cartoons,” as well as “media cowering in fear of printing any cartoon that contains the word ‘Muhammad.’ ”

“The wonderful irony [is that] great newspapers like The Washington Post, that took on Nixon . . . run in fear of this very tame cartoon, thus validating the accuracy of the satire,” he said by e-mail.

How true.

Here it is, without any semblance of an apology:

“Beat Whitey Night???!!??” WTF?

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

- Wiccapundit

From the Des Moines Register, KSDK NewsChannel 5:

Des Moines police are trying to determine what led to a series of attacks outside the Iowa State Fairgrounds over the weekend that included the assault of two police officers.

Sgt. David Murillo stated in a report on Friday night: On-duty officers at the fairgrounds advise there was a group of 30 to 40 individuals roaming the fairgrounds openly calling it ‘beat whitey night.’

And State Rep. Ako Abdul-Samad, D-Des Moines said he doesn’t have enough information to decide if the fights were racially motivated.

Not enough information?  Excuse me?

The Treason of the MSM

As a follow up to my earlier post about the false information in Obama’s resume, I present you with this follow up article.  Here’s an excerpt:

The White House directive was issued as part of a deal struck between the Office of the President and reporters of the mainstream media.

In exchange for being given unprecedented access to Barack Obama, reporters would promise not to report ‘certain matters’ they may discover while covering the President.

From Steve Clemons at The Washington Note:

What I have learned after discussions over the last several days with several journalists who either have regular access to the White House or are part of the White House press corps is that there is a growing sense that access is traded for positive stories — or perhaps worse, an agreement that things learned will not be reported in the near term.

What, exactly, is meant by ‘things learned?’  What information could a journalist uncover while having close access to the President that would be deemed so damaging, embarrassing, or even worse, that the White House is exhibiting a near-paranoia in making sure such information is not reported?

And more importantly, why would any true journalist who is worth his/her salt agree to such a scheme?

Clemons believes that part of the reason is that some reporters who cover the White House want to write books about Obama.

A ‘sell-out’ to the dreaded Capitalism on the part of liberals?  Say it ain’t so.

The agreement between the White House and reporters is mutually beneficial.  The White House gets what it wants.  Any information that it considers to be negative or damaging to Obama will not be reported.  The reporters also get what they want–unprecedented access to the President of the United States, which will help their careers and eventually earn them millions in book royalties.

In the meantime, what are the citizens not being told about Barack Obama?

Disgusting, isn’t it?
