Act of War. Oh, look! A squirrel!

Pentagon: Iran fired on U.S. drone in Persian Gulf — seven days ago

Gee, do you think it might have been useful for the American electorate to know this, oh, say, a couple of days before the election?  Nah, that’s just crazy talk.

What’s one more shot in a war that’s been going on since November 4, 1979 between the United States and Iran?  War, you say?  Umm, yeah, that’s what you call it when agents of another nation invade your sovereign territory and take it over.    It a more civilized and less prissy era (like just a few decades ago), the takeover of the American embassy in Teheran would have constituted a casus belli, justifying armed response by the United States.  The feckless Jimmy Carter did nothing, and that clear breach of international law has remained unaddressed since that time.

How does it feel to have been at war for thirty-three years and not even realize it?

Gee, it’s like 1979 all over again

Let’s see:

Soaring gas prices?  Check.

Flaccid economy?  Check.

Government spending out of control?  Check.

Middle East tensions with assaults on our embassies and murder of ambassadors?  Check.

Impotent foreign policy strategy?  Check.

Fears of nuclear showdown?  Check.

Russian hegemony causing us grief?  Check.

Total loser ensconced in the White House?  Checkcheckcheckcheck.

Maybe I should get my plaid bell-bottoms out of storage and relive the glory days of old.  At least the music was better back then (disco notwithstanding).

Sadly, there is no Ronald Reagan waiting in the wings to put things right.

Some thoughts on government

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

– Wiccapundit

It has occurred to me that there are four types of government administrations:

1. Moral and Competent

2. Corrupt and Competent

3. Moral and Incompetent

4. Corrupt and Incompetent

I would place the Reagan Administration in category 1: moral because it opposed communism and believed in increasing Americans’ personal and financial freedoms; and competent because it actually accomplished its goals of rolling back communismworldwide and vastly expanding economic activity through tax cuts.

I would place the Nixon Administration in category 2: corrupt because of Watergate and Nixon’s paranoia/enemies list; and competent because it actually brought an end to the the Vietnam War by forcing North Vietnam to the negotiating table on the strength of massive military strikes.

I would place the Carter Administration in category 3: moral (in a certain sense) because Carter – although preachy and self-righteous – seemed to genuinely desire the expansion of peace in the world, and was not overtly mired in any major scandals; and incompetent because, well, where do you start?  Iran hostages/growth of Muslim terrorism, Soviet expansionism, “stagflation,” sky-high interest rates, gas lines …

As for category 4, as the line goes from “Highlander”: “There can be only one.”

Corrupt.

Incompetent.

Iran Elected by U.N. to the Commission on Women’s Rights

Stoning of an Iranian Woman

Yeah, you heard me right.  The Islamic Republic of Iran, now on the Commission on Women’s Rights.  This is beyond ridiculous–indeed, beyond the pale; also, apparently Fox News is the only main stream news source that considers this newsworthy.  Furthermore, where is the outrage from feminist organizations such as NOW?  *crickets* …Bueller?  Bueller?  BUELLER?!!!!  Their website doesn’t mention anything about this…it is almost entirely dedicated to the promotion of abortion, veiled as so-called reproductive rights.

Boobquake Song!

The original Babe of Boobdom, the Maven of Mammaries herself…Dolly Parton:

Now that I’ve got your attention, and expanding on the subject of breasts, I friend of mine told me about the following video that a friend of hers made after writing a song in honor of Boobquake.  I just had to share! =)

I wonder if this offends the prophet (pizza be upon him)? I have a theory that he preferred flat-chested women because they looked more pre-pubescent. *cough* (Oh, no she di’ n’t!)

Idiocy Overload

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

– Elphaba

It’s not that I’ve had nothing to post about, it’s that there is too much to post about, and real life gets in the way of sitting down and composing my thoughts.  Too much nasty shit is coming down the pike, and it sometimes gets overwhelming to to contemplate it all.  For instance:

Honestly, it just goes on and on and on and on.  No time for a breather.  We are swimming hard just to keep our heads above water, and it would be nice to see the tide turn in our favor.

But enough about what’s bothering me.  Let’s talk about you.  What’s going on with y’all right now?

Oh, and Aggie,  what do you think of these?

Sometimes music can really be a matter of life and death, and I don’t mean whining about the Bush/Cheney Fascist State™.  Make sure to watch this on YouTube and push the numbers up.   Poke the mullahs in the eye.
